A View of the World

Hi Reader,

When I was ten years old, I made my first solo trip to the United States. I flew to Florida from Jamaica to visit friends and eventually, my grandmother who lived in Jacksonville.

That’s me in a handmade skirt and shirt made by my mom. Complete with a straw hat in hand and a box of gifts at my feet, I was the image of a Caribbean girl in a new world. That trip opened my appetite for travel; it was the first of many solo trips.

It’s taken me almost a decade to compile, write and edit the stories included in Beauty in His Time. As our world changed around me, I wondered about the climate in which it would finally be released. It was not a timeline that I would be able to orchestrate. Would its message be relevant?

Diversity is not a new concept. Since the earliest of time, cities were built around intersections of trade, transportation and the trials of survival. They navigated the differences of peoples, languages, economic standing and more. At its core, it was not much different from today.

That little girl who got a glimpse of different peoples and places has grown to see that diversity is the palate with which God has painted the world! Variety abounds in His creation, and he loves and longs to restore it all.

I am praying for clarity as I get opportunities to share the message this book holds. Thank you for your continued support. We are one week away from the official launch date! If you already purchased a copy, I would be honored if you leave a review on Amazon.

Thank you!

Hi Reader, This week I went to the post office to mail some copies of my book to my amazingly supportive endorsers. As we finalized the transaction, the young lady behind the counter asked, “Did you write this book? What is it about?”I gave her a high-level overview, and her eyes widened with intrigue.“My mom is Jamaican and my dad is African American. I can’t imagine the culture clash you went through. I feel it, especially about school, between me and my cousins.” My mind raced as to how to...

Hi Reader, It's probably the worst kept secret at this point...my book is available on Amazon for purchase! Long story short, it was launched sooner than expected, and I would like to use these last few weeks before the official launch date to build up reviews on the site. Can I ask you to purchase a copy, read it over the next month and post a review? Reviews are critical to convince potential buyers to purchase a book! If you've never been an Amazon review type of person--this is your time...

Hi Reader, My old neighbor passed away in Jamaica last month. He was the kind of neighbor whose driveway was included in our bicycle loop; whose wife handed us bags of fruit across the fence; and whose voice bellowed harmonies as we sang together in church each Sunday. We have not lived in that neighborhood for years, but the memories we shared became alive as we thought of his family mourning his passing. In the Caribbean, as in many other parts of the world, elders such as my childhood...
